EXCITING NEW....JIMMY DEPRE'S NEW RADIO ADVENTURE

Well ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, yours truly Jimmy DePre will now be doing a LIVE version of The Rock & Roll Jamboree, Mondays from 5-7 PM....THAT'S DRIVE TIME!!  I'll be broadcasting live on WIFI 1460 AM.  The station is based out of Burlington, New Jersey and covers Bucks County (PA), Trenton, Florence, Burlington City, Willingboro, Delanco, Riverside, Delran, Cinnaminson and others.  If you're NOT in the listening area, no need to worry, you can pick the show up online, from 5-7 PM, at www.wifi1460am.com.  I'll be taking request on the spot too.  You can contact me by email if you'd like at sjpb73@aol.com, but I'll be manning the phones also, which is more direct.  The number to call is 609-447-0236.

We'll have special guests on from time, phone interviews and even groups stopping by to sing.  My group even agreed to come up to the station, which means that those outside of Philly that have been waiting to hear Junior & The Four Seniors, you'll be able to hear them live.

This is a very exciting new adventure for me and I look forward to your company on a Monday night.  Of course the original Rock & Roll Jamboree will still air on Destination Doo-Wop for 3 hours on Mondays 8-11, but this is a completely different show.  The new show will feature the same great sounds, but with more soul and Motown and Philly Favorites that I don't usually play on the other show.

So I'll see everyone Monday on the radio, LIVE from 5-7 PM with special guest Mark Del Costello, who will be talking about the fabulous 25th Anniversary Burlington Concert that took place in October.  He will be talking about the DVDs, which I urge you to sign up for, and sharing audio clips from this historic, once in a lifetime event.  See everyone Monday!!!

Very Sad News

It is with great sadness that I must report the passing of the very talented, very beautiful and a very dear friend of mine, Mary Swan.  Mary recorded 3 singles for the Swan Label in Philadelphia in 1958 and 1 single for the UnArt Label in 1959.  She abandoned her career for the married life and to raise her children.  In more recent years she had begun performing again and was sounding better than ever.  I had the pleasure of producing her lone album, Mary Swan: Then & Now, a career retrospective 2 summers ago.  Mary lost her battle to pancreatic cancer Wednesday morning, March 11, 2009.  Another great talent has gone to the musical heavens above and will be singing with the greats who have have gone before her.  She will be missed by all who knew her kind and loving personality, especially me.  It's hard to believe it was just October that I saw her, looking stunning and singing rousing renditions of "My Heart Belongs To Only You" and "Crying In The Chapel."  My prayers and condolences go out to her family, son and daughter, and her friends.  Look for a tribute this Monday night on both the live and recorded versions of The Rock & Roll Jamboree (via WIFI 1460 AM and www.destinationdoowop.com)

Wednesday, March 4, 2009 is Doo-Wop Night @ South Philly String Band

Well ladies and gentleman, the last Doo-Wop night was full of excitement. We celebrated the true pioneers of our music and some great Philly sounds with Quiet Storm.  As usual, this class-act group brought some members of the audience up to recreate some of your favorites.  We look forward to their return.  This week Doo-Wop Depot is back and when you talk about a super group, this is no exception.  The group consists of Frank Torpey (The Contenders), Phil D'Antonio (Billy & The Essentials) and silky smooth leads of Dennis Gillen (Rick & The Masters).  As usual, there will be a fabulous food buffet, great drinks, dancing and the collector's corner with yours truly, Jimmy DePre, and hopefully another memorable performance by Junior & The Four Seniors with their tribute to the groups form Philadelphia. That's this Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at:
